A city is not a monument, but a constantly evolving organism in which every generation leaves its mark. The dreams of modernism and the cold algorithms of the digital age haunt the same space.

Destination: Hauntopolis examines the city as a hauntological space where the present and the past overlap. The screening takes the viewer from the night time streets of East London to the damp alleys of Hong Kong, the skyscrapers of New York and Tokyo, and an escalator machine room of the Helsinki metro. Hand-processed 16mm film, long exposures, repetition, and photographic techniques transform everyday urban environments into eerie and hypnotic spaces. The present feels strangely porous — as if another time were seeping through it.

The Oulu Music Video Festival is the world’s oldest music video festival, and it will be held for the 33rd time from August 27 to 30 2026. The preview joint screening has been curated by OMVF Artistic Director Joel Karppanen.
